Default Installing after-market seats in a 996

I came across some Sparco seats recently and decided to put them into my '99 cabrio. I got the correct brackets, etc., they bolted up perfectly and they feel great--much better than the stock ones. The new seats are fully manual and my old ones are full electric which I don't mind, but here's the rub. The existing seat belt (female) receptacle has a sensor cable which connects to a wire harness under the seat, but it doesn't look like there is a connector per se. So, my question is, how do you disconnect the sensor without just clipping the wire? My mechanic also tells me that while he can reset the airbag light, there will be another (larger) warning light that won't be able to be reset since the sensor won't be connected. Any ideas? Has anyone tried and/or done this successfully?

Thanks in advance,
Jojo

You should be able to plug the cable from the receptacle into the harness underneath the seat. The mounting kit I bought for my recaro seat came with a harness housing so that everything mated up, but I think you'll be able to plug it in directly.

This should help you out: http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/albuq41?page=2

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, my Sparcos are not electronic, so there's no harness housing.

I think what Bobbyho is saying is that your old seat belt receptical should be removed from the old seat and plugged into the cars harness under the seat. (the large connector under the seat will be disassembled and the small connectors removed from it for use)

You can pull the harness apart, move the seat belt receptacle to the new seat, and then put the harness back together with just the seat belt connection. It works fine that way.

Okay, got it. That makes sense. I'll give that a shot. Thanks very much. I really appreciate it.
