Default 2002 C4S on eBay

Don't shoot the messenger but this popped up in eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...m=152137798757

I think the seller has posted about this car but can't remember. Check it out if you are up in the Northwest and maybe buy it? I have no skin in the game and posted this for a shot at an inexpensive example. Flame away you naysayers who look at the glass as half empty, LOL.

Wow, good price for a 'accident(s)' damaged Porsche.

That car has been on Craiglist for a year - I wouldn't go near a reconstructed title

First of all I'd have to find out clearly why there is a salvage title before I'd spend any money on this car. I want to know the history.

But overall, very nice car at a nice price! Cosmetically, the only "thorn in my side" is they (maybe the body shop that repair the rear damage) installed a Turbo style rear hood/spoiler but didn't replace the stock C4S center brake light with the turbo plain panel. Having dual center brakes lights visible at all times is little odd. And they didn't center up the "Carrera C4S" logo properly. But easy fixes. This would be a great opportunity for some one to get into a nice C4S for NB money.

No one is asking me but I would run a mile. The simple reason is in the presentation of what needs to be done on the car. Ac NEEDS TOPPING UP??????? haaaaaa. How come such a simple job was not completed for this sale.????? Apart from the reconstructed title. Piece of **** in my estimation owing to the fact that there are hundreds if not thousands of 996 cars out there for sale.

I wonder if the engine was replaced after the accident. Could not see any trace of cosmoline. I think the rear damage was pretty bad.

And the owner of the "best 911 in Iowa" thought we were being harsh?

Did this C4S run over your puppy or something Hurdi?

Piece of ****
Having a rebuilt title means there are definitely things to look into to make sure that it was done right and that there shouldn't be lingering issues, but that doesn't mean much. Unfortunately with the depressed value of the 996 and the high cost of (quality) labor and parts it's not hard for one of these to end up totaled for inconsequential damage.

Needs a hard look before dropping money? Sure. "Piece of ****"? I see no evidence of that.

hundreds if not thousands ... for sale
Really? You know of a surplus of available C4S cars that the rest of us aren't aware of? This isn't your basic RWD NB car. Regardless of if you agree with the appeal or not, the 4S is considered more desirable by most and therefore carries a premium. Relatively speaking there are also fewer of them available than the NB versions.

I agree... this would be a great opportunity for someone to get into a C4S for NB money. But the smart thing to do, is get an thorough PPI done on the car before shaking hands.

Nice looking car. Photographs well. With a rebuilt title, though, even at only 57k miles, I think $17,500 would be about top dollar.

Ran the VIN for sh*ts and giggles - someone decided to put the model emblem on the back I it was ordered without, sunroof delete - desirable to some, wish my C4S had had the autodim mirror set-up. Someone put on C4S wheel centercaps - that's some $ right there. And this ashtray stays closed, mine didn't so I replaced it with the storage bin replacement.

fun to read all the posts on this car -
i called on that car a year ago when i was shopping. i'd suggest staying far away - just like they did when the seller photographed the front end in the rain
