Anyone interested in doing the 3 or 4 day Bondurant Grand Prix road racing school this summer? There is a guy selling gift certificates (if he still has them) for almost $2k off. I know it's a long shot but I thought it might be fun if anyone wanted to meet out there. I'm thinking July or first part of Aug.

Here's the guy that has the gift certificates. 3 certificates (max allowed) gets you $1950 net discount. He only had 20 and I got 3 of them.

I'm thinking about going the week of 6/27.

I did the Skip Barber School of High Performance Driving at Lime Rock about 20 years ago. They changed the name from "racing school" for legal reasons. Best $5 grand I ever spent.
I drove to the school in my (at the time) '87 911 Cabriolet. For all two days, the instructors were trying to "goad me" into bringing my car onto the track so "we can show you what your car is capable of". I thought about it for, like, 10 seconds and declined.
At the time, they were still using BMW 3 series (no automatics). They told me: a. a set of tires lasted about 1000 miles and b. they never burned out a clutch.
I asked what happened to the cars after they swapped them out from the school (typically about 2000 - 4000 miles worth) and I was told: "they are sent back to the dealer where the cars are reconditioned and then sold".
That is why I'd never buy a used car from a car rental agency. It reminds me of the great scene from Ferris Buehler's Day Off - when the friend gives his dad's Ferrari to a valet parking guy.
Here is a small part of it.

^ I can't even guess how many times I have heard somebody say "oh well...it's a rental."
So yeah, I'm with you. I don't think I'll be buying a retired rental fleet vehicle any time soon...
