Default Caliper Refinish Options and Cost

I've got a set of 996TT Front Calipers that will need to be refinished. Stock Red - nothing fancy needed. Where would you recommend and what kind of spend is involved?
Thanks!

Depending on your tolerance for DIY, at minimum you'll need a few cans of brake cleaner, a red caliper paint set from Autozone, and some fresh eBay decals for your newly-repainted calipers. Budget: $70.

There's a pretty good and detailed thread in the 997 forum:

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...2-c2-base.html

I also used VHT "real red" on my 996 Carrera base calipers (everyone asks me if it's a Carrera S), and it came out great. I recommend laying down the base coat, curing, applying the Porsche decals, and gloss clear-coating over that.

I DIY'd it on my old S2k and they came out great. Like FF said, base coat, stickers, then clear. I used spray cans and it was easy- especially if they're off the car. Need to do the same on my 996 now, as they look horrible.

Ya, when I picked up my 2002 C2, the clearcoat was faded and peeling off the calipers. Same on my Boxster S now. Refinishing the calipers makes a HUGE improvement in the looks and cleanliness of the car. Very much recommended!

And don't forget to paint the rotor hats, as well. Not much point in shiny calipers if the rotors are rusty.

Thanks all for the great responses. One item I'm curious on was a comment from Wheel Enhancement to not power coat the calipers. Aside from assuring that the powder used is high heat resistant and that areas are not coated that should remain bare (piston cylinders, guide pins and so on) - is there some other concern?

Most powder coats have a tendency to fade under high heat, so nice red calipers turn plum red. This is really only a concern of you plan on heavily tracking car.

But even then, that happens to the factory red calipers, which I believe are painted, so there's no guarantee to your calipers remaining their original red forever.

+996, If you're tracking it hard enough for this to happen then you most likely have bigger issues like having to replace brake piston seals/dust boots. Never had powder-coated calipers on my previous street car discolor in any way.

For the record we don't PC our calipers, we hard-bake finish them to perfection!

I don't see any scantily clad models modeling these so I'm gonna have to flag this post and report it to the mods.

Yes, we like hard pedal feel!
