It should go up and down smoothly, however, when it is up (engine hot) you cannot push it down with your fingers. When it is down (engine cool), I find it takes a bit of leverage on the spring to lift it up. Maybe spray it with WD-40 or silicone lube.

"OEM tank" = genuine Porsche tank?

I updated mine and ordered it from Porsche. It had the new part number on it. I wouldn't buy anything aftermarket on this part. Expansion tank too.
