I was in the market for a much rougher car and this was not a terrible stretch price-wise. I have always loved the color, and I was curious to see the Targa top, which is why I went to look at it. Dealer was able to work with me to get the price down close to the range that I was looking for. Cost out the door, including a 4 year/48k mile warranty, was barely more than I paid for my WRX limited new in 2011. Previous owner traded it in on a brand new 911.

Unfortunately, after 400 miles of driving in under a week, we have thrown our first CEL while idling in a parking lot, as evidenced by the above dash picture. Cylinder 3 and 6 misfire, which I will attribute to what are probably 13 year old spark plugs nearing their first service interval. I'm planning on doing new spark plugs, pollen filter, oil, and oil filter here shortly just because I don't ever trust maintenance that someone else has done on a vehicle.

Spark plugs are a wear item, so not covered under warranty. However, they are inexpensive and extremely easy to swap out on these cars, and I'd like the opportunity to take a look at them first as well. Given that the car runs and drives fine and that it only threw the codes while sitting at idle, when a misfire event is most likely to occur, I'm not too worried about it. I've reset the codes, and we'll see if it shows up again. I was prepared for sorting out nuances on a 13 year old car that was driven only 3.5k miles per year on average, and is approaching a major service, mileage-wise. If it looks any more serious than old spark plugs, then it's off to the dealership to use that warranty!

Nice. If you're going to do the plugs, you might as well at least LOOK at the coil packs before you get started. If they're all cracked and nasty, two birds with one stone...

Oh definitely. I won't ever pass up an opportunity to get new parts under warranty if I can. Although the warranty was more for my peace-of-mind for having a vehicle with the original IMS bearing, and how absurdly expensive it is to put a new engine in.

Thanks! I'm debating whether or not to try and keep miles off it, or just enjoy it to its fullest and see if I can top the highest mileage 996 thread.

Oh, please drive the wheels off of it! Mine shortly became my DD, and for the last 3 years I've enjoyed every mile. LOVE your interior, and it looks like you have the very desireable leather console. Enjoy!
