Default Yikes - Parts Price Inflation!!

My current car came with possibly the second ugliest gearshift **** on the face of the earth. The ugliest was the one that came with my previous car. I was searching for a new gearshift ****, exactly like the one I bought for my previous car, so I went to look up my old order on ECS Tuning's website. I bought that Porsche gearshift **** for $360.24 on May 15, 2013. I clicked on the link to buy another one for the current car, and the new price for the exact same part: $1,082.44

Looks like I'll be living with Ol' Meg Griffin for a while longer.

Says $360.24 when I open the link.

Maybe they just realize you are a high rolling TT driver with cash to burn since you don't have the ever present danger of MOFs and CEFs that will require you to put in a new engine at any moment (which will then be ready to implode on you at any moment as well).

Really? Can you order one for me from your computer? If you'll do that for me, I'll send you a nice broken picture of a car.

Hm. When I added it to my cart, typed in my Visa number, and clicked the Buy It! button, the price dropped to $120. You should try it!

(not really. I'd feel bad if anyone actually did this. I'd still point and laugh, but I _would_ feel bad.)

Yup, prices on those (and several other things) went up drastically after Jan 1 2015. Of course I was procrastinating ordering it around the holidays and got caught in middle of the price increase. For me, ECS showed it as avail and at a much loser price, so I ordered it. Then I got an email saying that there are only a few avail (in Germany), and the price is now over $1k, and "what did I want to do?". If you look around on ebay, you may find one cheaper. I ended up finding a guy on there with a store (I think it was MSroadrace) who had one for less. But at the time, he only had 1.

There is also someone on ebay selling a nice shifter with the AL horseshoe for about $120 or so iirc. That one looks pretty good and is pretty good quality. Alternately, you could get that one and either use it or try to take off the horseshoe and add it to your shifter. I think I may have that one in the basement if you want any info on it.

Reminds me of camp, we told a new kid the soda machine would give out change for a $50 bill (his stupid parents didn't give him anything smaller and the store was closed..)

Yup....in went $50 and out came 50 cents in change.

The moment it happened we were not sure what was more shocking, that he fell for it or the machine taking a 50.

I bet that kid grew up to be one of those "collect all your change in 5 gallon water bottles" and then go to coin star and take 5 hours dumping it into the machine.

Fwiw I have a barely used Graphite Grey shifter and boot with silver horseshoe that I'm looking to sell. Don't think that's the color you are seeking but figured I'd put this info out there anyway. The shifter and boot are in perfect condition, no wear marks, discolorations, nothing. I am going to price it at $350 if you have any interest. I do have pics if you'd like a peek....

Well, you are apparently an E-2C Hawkeye guy, so not sure if I can trust you . . . , but sure. Actually, I have a black with red stitching boot with the aluminum horseshoe already. It's just the actual **** that I think is all I need. I haven't really looked to see what's under the boot - I assume I can take just the **** off. Anyhow, just post a couple of pics here. If I don't end up buying it, maybe somebody else will be interested. Thanks for the offer to assist.
