Default 996 EPS Clutch Kit

Has anyone given the EPS clutch kit a try?

Currently have my transmission removed and seeing if there are any alternatives to OEM/SACHS. Price seems very reasonable.

As long as you have a 3.4 why not?

Default Updates - Clutch Arrived

Wanted to follow up on this thread. I purchased the Clutch and it arrived!

The clutch is advertised as an upgraded replacement clutch for the 996. The price is very reasonable so i decided to give it a try.

So the webpage states that it uses an upgraded disc, here are the pics in comparison to the old clutch.

The new clutch has much more disc material than the old.

Here are the differences:

EPS Clutch Disc OD: 24 cm
SACH Clutch Disc OD: 24 cm

EPS Clutch Disc Contact Width: 40.0 mm
SACHS Clutch Disc Contact Width: 30.0 mm

24.0 cm

40.0 mm

24.0 cm

30.0 mm

Here is a picture of the new pressure plate. A quick search of the P/N shows that it is the same SACHS pressure plate used for the 987 S. Seems to fit onto the OEM 996 3.4 flywheel perfectly.

It will be a few months before I will have the car together to test the pressure plate. I will follow up with the install and driving results then.

That is a screaming deal for those parts, same setup I bought beginning of this year, I have zero complaints after about 2k miles on it. Get that thing back together and enjoy it!

Any chance you've gotten the car back together? Any initial thoughts?

I'm intrigued by the fact that they're claiming the clutch is upgraded - I'm all for a better part, but given I've found the regular 3.6L Sachs clutch kit for as low as $450, I don't want to get something sub-par just to save $50.

I'm also considering this clutch kit. So as far as I can tell it's good?

Does that mean that Sachs is the only company that makes a good clutch, and any other brand is crap?

No, not at all. But likely the disk is made offshore west of the US. Would like to hear from those that have installed them to see how the disks hold up after a few thousand miles.

Cheers

Cheers

My new EPS clutch also arrived today. Finally my car will be on the road soon.

The clutch seams equally as robust if not more than the original clutch.

The clutch material seams to have Raybestos stamped on it.

I have around 50 km on my clutch now.

As far as feel/bite/performance goes it seems fantastic.

Obviously the main thing is how it stands the test of time. I'll keep reporting back as I put more kilometers on the car.
