996 seats ruined by rain
With spring around the corner, I hope, its time to address a problem that occurred last fall when my son left the sunroof open.
My seats have turned to cardboard from the rain that fell on them. I've tried several methods to try and save the leather to no avail.
Does anyone have a trusted sources for replacement seat covers? I'm looking at the ones that lseat.com has available. http://www.lseat.com/categories/genu...r/porsche.html
Any comments would be appreciated.

Which are the methods you've tried? Because I'd exhaust my Lexol/Neet'sfoot/Mink oil/Griot's Special Sauce / German Witchcraft options, twice, before sourcing new covers.
Worth remembering that almost all car-interior leather is coated in plastic for evenness of color and grain. So rainwater (and leather treatment) mostly penetrate at the seams and stitch lines; when you smear Lexol on a large seat panel you're mainly applying scent to polymer.

I tried lexol and plastic wrap, with a hair dyer. Didn't do a thing. Plus stuff from Meigure's and others from the parts store. I think I will get some leatherique rejuvenation oil before I give up.
If the rain penetrated the polymer or plastic, why won't the treatments? Any suggestions would be appreciated

NB: I'm not an expert!
I would guess the rain didn't penetrate the plastic so much as soak in at the stitches and seams, so I'd try to give [miracle cure] the chance to do the same.
Left a window open on my 535 three months ago. I parked in the (Virginia) sun for days, left puddles of Leather Care in the seams for days thereafter...and I'm pretty sure passengers' asses and time are what got that seat back to normal.
Don't worry-- someone who knows what they're talking about will be along shortly!!

I would be very tempted, however they don't seem to have the grey color for my car listed somehow.

There was a thread a month or so ago on the 928 forum that talked about using Nivea face cream that worked wonders. Had to get the German version as not same ingredients as US.

I looked on ebay and on here. Heated seats are not all that cheap or easy to find. Most are also not in the shape mine were before Jr. ruined them
What's everyone's take on using Sparcos or even something better?

Try some of the Leatherique products. IIRC they make some products that folks on other model forums love. Some seller in eBay sells replacement leather seat covers for $315 - bases and backs for the front.

I think I have the same problem, the part where the seams are at the leather is stiff. I haven't tried anything yet on mine.
Did somebody say Sparco's? If you decide to go that route, I'm a dealer for them.
I have a pair in my 930 and love them.

I used Leatherique on some Lamborghini seats a while back. It takes a few coats, and let is soak for a bit. Should be in a warm location for best results. Other than that, the Lseat place looks like your best bet. Pretty easy to swap the seat covers once the seat is out of the car.

Unfortunately I think your problem is permanent. I had something similar happen 3 years ago, right after I bought my car. Detail shop (I KNEW I should have done it myself!) had the car for a couple of days, and when I got it back I noticed the passenger seat had a really stiff section right in the middle of the seat that I don't think was there before. Shop denied any knowledge, so what could I do? I think someone left a wet or damp rag on it overnight. It never got any better, no matter how much I treated it. Can't really see it though, so I've learned to live with it.

Looks like this Leather Doctor rocks out on this stuff. If it as good as it seems then Connolly's Hide Food days may be numbered.
