Default Repair Kit for Seatbelt Receptable/Airbag Light issue

The kit that Porsche sold to fix this issue is supposedly under the part number 000 043 204 32, but it appears that it's no longer available. My passenger side seatbelt receptacle keeps triggering my airbag light. DeOxit spray only temporarily fixed the issue.

Anyone else run into this recently?

I don't have the answer you are looking for, but I would keep the pax side belt buckled at all times when the key is on. Further, I would locate the wiring to the buckle, determine the correct state(open, or closed), and hard wire it that way, or better yet, provide a toggle switch for when the seat is occupied. Don't forget to toggle the switch if the seat is occupied though.

Isn't this the kit you're looking for?

Well that's interesting. I was under the impression that the repair kit had the part number 000 043 204 32 and only included 2 seatbelt receptacles and 2 wiring harnesses.

Maybe I need both kits together? Hmm..

If you have the means, you can reprogram the Airbag module to "ignore" the seat belt buckle with a PIWIS.

That's interesting. My Indy has one.

What's the purpose of the fault code triggering the light if the airbags still work and the buckle code can simply be reprogrammed to be ignored?

Regional requirements (USA).

DOT requirement. Some countries don't have the same test standards, and they can disable the sensor to minimize fault codes in those markets.

The US is one of the only countries that has occupancy sensors that work with the seat, and buckle. I suspect DOT set it up as a result of some car seat accidents where a kid was killed while strapped into the front seat in a car seat. But - I'm not sure.

Is it possible to determine if the repair kit has already been installed? My airbag light being triggered by the seat buckle. The image below is the end of the buckle connector under my driver's seat. The wires have clearly been spliced, and to remove the seat completely from the car, I would need to cut the blue and yellow shrink-wrapped wires. Those splices bypass the connector and go directly into the loom.

First step is to order some of the DeOxit spray, but if that fails, do I need just a new seatbelt buckle, or the buckle and the repair kit?

Thanks!

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead since I can answer your question, I might as well... your picture shows that the TSB for the repair kit has been attempted but without using the repair kit. Since the repair kit includes new pins, I would say that you should redo the repair using the repair kit and following the TSB.

Fwiw, I didn't replace any wiring on mine and only used deOxit to clean up the pins/connections. It's been over a year now and no airbag lights have returned.
