Default Dealer issues: Update

Some may recall my previous post...
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...threadid=90174

Well, yesterday I finally spoke with the GM. I was very polite (which was hard!) and simply explained to him what has happened (or what hadn’t!) and why I was calling him.

After about 5 minutes on the phone he told me that he would call the service manager in Porsche and that he would contact me in less than 10 minutes. He told me that if they owed me tires, he would get me tires…PERIOD! He couldn’t believe that one of their Porsche’s went off the lot with a PLUG in one of the tires. He wasn’t happy about that.

5 minutes later the service manager called me and even though I had to explain to him what happened the end result was he ordered 4 new tires for me and apologized for the hassle I have had to go through. He asked what was on the wheels now and I told him S-02’s but would prefer to have S-03’s. He said no problem and asked for the sizes. The rears are on B.O. but he said they should get them in around the 20th of October. He is even sending someone out to pick up my wheels so all I have to do is come get them once the tires are there.

I am still shocked that the dealer actually stepped up and kept their word. I guess I won’t believe it until I’m driving of with them on my wheel!

Glad to know there are other honorable dealerships out there. Sorry to hear it took so long to get resolution, but it sounds like it is working out just fine.

Sorry to hear Eric that you haven't had a good experience at a dealership before. Some people have.

I think the Service dept at that dealer is much better, however the sales dept at both dealerships are equally inept.

Yes, the service dept is excellent. They fixed things on my car that wasn't covered under the "certified" warranty.

My dealer, Lynch in Chicago, has done the same. I had a set of tires go off after a track day (the factory pressures are too high for track purposes). After one attempt to balance, they bought me 4 new Conti's at no charge, though my car already had 6,000 miles. They actually sent a guy over to pick it up and bring it back- but it happens that one mechanic lives nearby. The service manager explained that they are trying to make every customer happy with their purchase. AS
