The supercharger gives more low and broadband torque giving it the illusion that it's a quicker car.

Not only that but the 996 tends to be a more engaging car since it lacks the insulation and softer suspension of many other cars that may be faster on paper.

Sort of the way that a go kart feels like you're flying at 100 MPH yet you're lucky if you're doing 30 MPH.

I toyed with the idea of an SRT Crossfire, but ultimately, just like the Solstice GXP, I couldn't bring myself to do it. At least the Crossfire has AMG guts, but still...

Funny story to further derail thread: When we drove the GXP, I took the 20ish sales guy off to the side and said, "My wife is looking for a new drift car, so if she starts to get it sideways, don't worry too much." Kid was terrified as he climbed into the pax seat. Heh.

Heh I like it!

I DD a 6.2L supercharged Cadillac EXT pickup truck which is around 700 hp with the SLP engine / blower. That's a rocket

Default What, SRT6-Soltice in the same breath.

I don't know if any of you have an srt6 and if not how can you compare it to your 996. I don't do car or Bike snobbery but I do own a 996 C4 , A 05 SRT6 purchased new in 07 and a 04 Maserati Cambio Corsa Coupe. They each have their own personality, but if you are arm chair racing, I'll take the Maser over the other two. Even with the F1 trans and paddles the Mas will stomp them both. The SRT has a Fabulous AMG stroked engine and trans combo that I don't think I could take with my 6speed 996. Incidentally, I have some interesting bikes. A1956 R69, 84 R100 CS, 08 K1200S and a bomb called an 10 S1000 RR. Trust me until you put the RR in Race mode and let her rip you haven't lived.
