Default Polish for my cab

Quick question..

What polish/wax should I use on my Basalt Black cab?

I'm starting to get these awful looking white water spots everytime I wash it...

Any ideas?

Don't let the water dry on the finish of the car, dry it quickley
Using distilled water will help but thats a bit of a pain.
Wax/polish will not help water spots since the spots are due to impurities in the water

Actully a good wax may prevent water from drying too quickly. Of course, best to wash when all surfaces are cool.

I find Blitz and P21 to be the best. No affilation, but good advise here. http://www.carcareonline.com

Get a good micro fiber towel. Use instead of a chamois. It is amazing what they can do!!!

Zaino is great on dark cars. follow the directions and strip all the old wax off, use a good swirl mark remover (3M) and i'll bet that you'll be very happy with the results. i was!

So ummm...

What should I use on my basalt black paint?

There are so many things to buy!

Does Porsche paint come under "clear coat" or "regular paint"?

My car is only 6 months old and I have some water marks already! Does this mean I need to use the polish for "swirl marks" ?

Go with the show car kit...It has everything you will need to use. It also has the clay bar, highly recommended, to remove any bird dropping marks, water spots and other impurities on your finish. Read the Zaino site faq's ect. They will have all the info you need to black that basalt black shine beautifully...Porsche paint is "Clear Coated". Use the Z-2 from the kit for your first coat w/ the ZFX accelerater. If you have swirl marks, you can use the Z-5. I encourage you to call or email Zaino with any questions you may have. The owner will be happy to respond to any questions and offer you suggestions pertaining to any issues currently going on with your paint. Since your "Down Under" email will make more financial sense. Good Luck!!!

Well, if you can find it, look for "Maguir's" wax, or body detailer/cleaner.
I use Maguir's wheel wax and polisher for both of my cars, and it lasts weeks at a time. Its really good.

chucksta:

Zaino is good on already perfect paint. But their Z5 is useless to remove the swirl marks that is already there. I tried Zaino and it did nothing to remove the swirl marks. It is a long lasting shine.

I have a black C4 Cab. and I use Maguires Dual Action Cleaner Polish to remove the Swirls ( but you do need a Random Orbital Polisher Preferrably Porter Cable) then use the Zaino process. I use Klass, it's similar to Zaino. After you get a couple of coats of these stuff. It should protect your paint pretty good.
I would recommand you do this

1. Wash ( with Dawn if you're going to use Zaino to remove any old wax that is left.)
2. Clay
3. Wash again,
4. Maguire DACP
5. Zaino Z5
6. Zaino Z2

and you should be done for another 6-10 month with regular washing and Z-2 every couple of weeks.

Black cars are very hard to take care of .. But if you do, the look can't be beat.
