Escort 9500ix Deal
I ran across this on Woot! today. It's the same radar detector that I run in my car. I've been really pleased with it. I particularly like the GPS function that tags recurring detections like door openers on commonly driven routes, such as on the way to work, and silences them automatically after 3 occurrences. The next time you drive through it won't go off. If a LEO is sitting in that same area running radar it will still alert you.
The only downside is one that I believe all detectors are facing. The collision avoidance radar on some newer high end cars will set it off. This is limited to a pretty short range. I find this to be a minor irritant and am still pleased with the detector.
This runs $350-$400 pretty much everywhere, so I think it's a good deal.
Anyway, the site isn't mine. I'm not making commission. I just thought some of you might be interested.

I've got the built-in version in my car, plus an additional laser jammer/diffuser. It came with the car or I probably wouldn't have spent the $$ to buy it and have it installed. The built-in version of the radar detector alone is $1,995, plus install. So, to get basically the same protection for $300 is pretty sweet.
As for the collision avoidance systems, it seems to me like every freaking semi on the road sets mine off, so I assume it is some sort of similar system. I noticed that they are all K band, so I just shut off all of the K band warnings from the detector. I may be wrong, but I don't believe many police use K band anymore anyway (probably because of the interference from these same systems and that the newer technology such as laser is better). Long story short, I really like having the protection.
Last thing, I was just reading the owner's manual for the laser jammer/diffuser a couple of days ago. I noticed an On/Off switch for it on the console, which I thought was odd. Turns out that when you get the warning that you are getting hit with laser, the jammer/diffuser will protect you, but you must slow down immediately and switch the jammer off so that the officer can get a good reading on your car. Otherwise, he will know you are running a jammer. Hmmm, takes me back to my Navy flying days and some of the stuff we had on our aircraft. Don't ask me for more deets, though, or you know:
