Hi all - I am having the Fister exhaust installed on my 2002 996 cab soon. Wanted to see if anyone had experience with the sound of Fister plus KN intake. Will it make a noticeable difference in the sound department? Or is Fister enough? Based on what I can tell with research the air intake will not do anything to increase performance rather just makes sound nicer. Thanks
The Fisters are enough. On my '99, I could not hear an appreciable difference between Fister and K&N and just Fister - and one very well regarded Porsche engine builder says that the K&N intake is the most poorly designed 996 CAI of the lot.
The Fister exhaust is great whether at idle or at 5k, as for the K&N hot air intake, pass on that one, the factory set up actually pulls in cold air from the rear deck.
If you're after sound performance, the fister is all you need. Once your ears get accustom to that and you find yourself wanting more db, then drop the oem cats.
