So you made the guy up? Hell, man, if I'm going to make someone up, I'd probably make him a her, and she'd be hot, and my wife would be cool with it (and not just "sure, I'll hold the camera" cool with it...).

My fictitious character wouldn't be some guy at a car show I imagined for the sole purpose of being dickish to him...

I want to know at what point our unconditional support for strangers on the internet who have the same car should end. Just let me know where to put this line:
>-----oh hell no-----<

Engineered genocide
Legalized slavery
Mass murder
Serial rapist
Armed robbery
Reckless driving
Being a huge DB in real life
Being an imaginary huge DB
Jaywalking
Littering
Swearing

Ok,

You guys win. The Way I posted it did come across as me looking like the douche, But please believe me when I say The way this guy came across was as a pretentious Douchebag. So that's why I said no thanks for my son sitting in his car and that I have a 996 at home. He looked surprised, not embarrassed which was the wrong word.

Maybe no one paid his car any attention and when I walked by he wanted to have a kid interested in it the way his was once??? who knows.

My son loves cool cars and trucks, etc everything a kid does and if my son showed interest in any car and the owner offered to sit heck yea I would want him to.

But again believe me this owner was the kind of guy that gives Porsche owners that snobby stereotype.

I didn't relay that clear enough and never actually said "daddy got a 911 at home" that would be gay.

Yes my car was at home missing that cam plug, and I brought a different car in the show.

Hope this changes context.

I'm not entirely sure your list is in order. Example: You can be a reckless driver without necessarily being a huge DB. Littering is at the tame end of the list, but some littering - i.e. pouring used motor oil on the heads of developmentally challenged albino seals - seems potentially more egregious than flicking a Big Red wrapper out the window of your F250.

Sincerely,

A Huge DB (real life or imaginary? Dunno.)

If you say so, OP, I'm inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt. Your original description made you sound like a giant DB - like big-white-nozzle-instead-of-a-head-with-water-and-vinegar-shooting-out-of-it douchebag - but if the Cayman guy was in fact being a tool, a burn was appropriate.

The great thing about the Internet is we get to jump to conclusions, prejudge people, make incorrect assumptions, and otherwise choose to denigrate people in ways we wouldn't ever do in person, sometimes implementing colorful profanity, outlandish comparisons, and other linguistic less-lethal weaponry. If I misjudged you unfairly, I'm sorry.

Having been the guy with the non-911 Porsche, I've seen the "I've got the REAL Porsche" dick move too many times in person...it's much the same dick move those of us with 996's sometimes see the "real" 911 owners (you know, the ones with lawnmower engines) make.

Anyway, good job explaining yourself instead of just getting butthurt and closing the thread (*cough*John Ireland *cough*).

Obviously for this stable of fine gentlemen (the 996 forum) the line would have to be above Reckless Driving. Dreadfully, that would mean everyone here is a huge DB in real life and at the same time an imaginary DB. I'm confused.

Actual argument at work today...all Muppets are puppets but not all puppets are Muppets. I will raise the douchebag in real life vs on-line life tomorrow and report back.

What if I'm for engineered genocide against stupid people? What if I'm not capable of carrying such dreams out, but still really want to? Above or below the line?

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming the stuff he wishes he said is what he first posted as having said.
