Default Sweet side mirror mod!!!!

So these babies were on my side view mirror when I purchased the car last August. Absent a heat gun, any idea how to safely remove these?

And since I've never officially shared a photo of the car, here it is. 2000 C2

Do yourself a favor and get one of these and don't even bother removing it.

A lot of cars in Europe have this. It's an aspherical mirror, everything to the left of the vertical line is convex so you can see your blind spot. It's very slick on how it's integrated and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb like those stick ons.

I've had mine on since I got the car and I also have one on my BMW which is even more useful since it's a wagon.

Use fishing line or dental floss on a hot day (or after a hair dryer).

I was thinking about this approach. Will try tomorrow. Thanks!

The PO on my car had the stick on circles. The car was from the desert so the came off very easily with a plastic trim removal tool. If you adjust the mirrors correctly, you will not need this type of device.

I thought that the aspherical mirror would be expensive, but it isn't too bad http://suncoastparts.com/product/9X6AMS.html

Dental floss will be your best bet. I took off the gt3 badge that the PO had on my car. Mine also came with the aspherical mirrors and i thought that was option from the dealer, but guess not

WD40 is great for removing the stuck on adhesive residue.

I guess I was more worried about the resilience of the mirror to heat or chemicals. I'll futz with it tomorrow as we are supposed to get to 90 (slightly out of the ordinary for Wisconsin).

I've personally just pryed on the convex mirrors with my fingernails and screwdriver. If you don't have careful hands though I wouldn't recommend it. This is how I've also taken off all my emblems throughout the years. Go with Goo Gone as it's natural and won't hurt the paint or any other finish. Do not confuse it wit "Goof Off" which will hurt paint.

As for the regular side mirrors on the 996, they are wide enough already to allow you to see a good portion of your blind spot but since I don't drive a 991 and driving in Chicago traffic with wide semi's, the extra width view doesn't hurt in rush hour traffic.

Did the round stick-on mirrors come as a full set (including the fuzzy toilet seat cover, the faux wool seat belt sleeve, and the big, spongy steering wheel cover)? It would suck to only get 1/4 of the "pathetic old fart" kit.
