Armrest in door question - I hate them!!
Hi all, my third post. Been an owner of a 2001 C2 for one week now. Fixing many small issues here and there, car missed some love
So I don't know if it's just me, but my other car is an A4, had it for 8 years and kind a used to place my left elbow and the armrest while driving,.
So after first ride in the C2 that lasted 45 minutes, I came home with sore elbow. Thing is just hard plastic/vinyl.
Anybody got any upgrades done on it? Wrap in leather, put some foam under etc...?
Would love to get some input on this

This is what I have now :

How different would be a C4s / Turbo one?

Idk, if it's that bad I'm sure someone can wrap it in leather or put a gel pad there or make something more comfy.
Personally as soon as I want to start and complain about my interior not being as nice as it could be is about the time my window leaks a little and the door gets a little wet, or my pipe ash goes around the dash, or I forget to put the top up as quickly as I should in rain.
I'd rather take care of the plastic on the dash than leather.

Or, buy a matching leather covered lid and see if that alone solves the problem.

Look for a used door pocket lid on ebay. Shouldn't be too hard to find since the design is the same for 1999-2004 and you don't care about the color. Cost for that part about $100. Buy a gel pad and trim to fit the lid (probably a Dr. Scholl's shoe insert would work just fine for about $10). Get a local upholstery shop to wrap it in the closest leather they can find to match the rest of your interior. Probably going to cost another $100. Install it yourself. Out the door cost around $200.

should not have your arm on the armrest anyway
Proper driving position is hands at 9 & 3 on the wheel, arms bent approx 60 - 90 deg
You can't turn the wheel properly with your elbow on the armrest
Someone will probubly now start a "Where do you put your elbow" thread

The 911 is a sports car. Only in the last 10 years has "sports car" been redefined as a 2-ton tank with a ridiculously over-appointed interior that adds at least 800 pounds to the curb weight.
The 996 may be somewhat spartan, but at least it doesn't look like a Scottish **** film with all of the heinous tartan prints and Cocomats of 911 interiors of the past. It's functional and spare, the way a sports car should be.
KK continues to blur the line between troll and douchenozzle...
