Just wondering why JG at $12/qt is a much better deal than M1 at $9/qt. ??

Not trying to start a flame and I am seriously curious.

Who do you choose to believe? The people who make and sell the cars when they're new, or the people who try to keep them running forever? Unfortunately, oil opinions are even WORSE than a**holes - some people have more than one.

I tend to believe the manufacture that has put many hours and engineering dollars into R&R over gossip I read on the web. But hey if it is on the Web it has got to be true.

That said I am sure the JG ultra whale sperm oil is the absolute best thing to ever happen.

Unicorn sperm is the best for engine oil, but's pricey and extremely hard to find.

Default price of oil

ever wonder why gas stations don't buy 55 gallon drums of oil, then sell it by the quart? When I was a kid, we did that at the gas station I worked at. No wasted money in packaging, less money in shipping. Better for the environment, no plastic containers going into landfills. Just bring in your container, and fill it up.

From a recent historical perspective, motor oil has stayed steady for a the past few years or more that I can remember. It always seemed to hover around $3 and some change per quart of M1 FWIW.

It seems funny that people are paying $9/qt for M1

Quick Lube places still buy the popular weights by the drum.

I'd buy oil for my cars in bulk - someone needs to come out with a multiweight growler.

I thought the only person still paying $9 a quart for M1 was John Ireland, and that only because the snaggletoothed hag (er, "hot barista") at his used car lot (er, "high-end reseller of luxury automobiles") continues to feign interest in his watch stories and meticulously manscaped albino chest pubes only as long as he continues to pay $300 for a $50 oil change...

Quick question: What is this "rear main seal" thing I've started hearing about? I saw a Yahoo article about it, so I fired up my trusty DSL modem and I Asked Jeeves, but I can't find any information in the chat rooms.

Given how far this thread has already wandered, perhaps it's appropriate to point out that OP and I share the same surname. Hi, Bernard.
