Default Cars That Are Finally Getting The Love They Deserve

Jalopnik article on previously unappreciated cars.

(Spoiler: the 996 is near the top of the list. Looks like values will be going up! )

Is this The end of the depreciating 996 asset?

Happy we made the list but the write up leaves a lot to be desired.

"the Porsche 996 was largely considered a let down due to lower build quality, reliability issues and its unfavorable design."

This is good news and no big surprise - the 996 is currently one of the best bargains out there.

"Unfavorable design" ??? I like it so much I have two of these beasts.

Part of this is driven by the fact that they have become affordable for college kids to get into and with the internet, hype them up and modify them to eventually gain a cult status/followers, and thus creating more demand/desire amongst other enthusiasts new/old.

I also noticed non-M e30's going this route too along with CRX's.

The guys at jalopnik have demonstrated in the past that they are idiots.

I love it. One day, jalopnik posts an article saying the 996 is crap and everyone calls jalopnik a joke. Now they praise the 996, and they are a credible source.

for christs sake people, if you like the car, then stop worrying so much about what magazine, website, internet pundit or whatever thinks. sheesh

Bull****. E36 M3 is an amazing car. Perfectly balanced that thing. More power would have been great, but even the US version is a great vehicle.

Drove it once in my life - for a day a friend had it. Loved it, absolutely wonderful car.

You choose to believe that the 993 was the last real 911, I choose to believe that the e30 was the one and only true M3.

For many of the same reasons too

If u followed the link to the 996 Turbo article..

this made me laugh

"Now, let's talk styling. No, the 996 isn't the most attractive car in the world. But when you go home tonight, take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself: Am I the most attractive human in the world? Of course you aren't. You're probably mediocre. You're probably in the bottom 50 percent, overall. In fact, and I don't mean to be disrespectful here, but let's face it: there's a good chance that you are the 996 of mankind. Suddenly the car's flaws don't seem so bad now, do they?"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
