- I signal and move into the left lane to pass the slower vehicle
- As I start to pass the slow vehicle, the driver accelerates to stay ahead of me so that I can't pass
- I've seen cars (of all types) accelerate to over 80 mph to prevent me from passing

The whole thing is silly.
+1 all the time. Not sure why people are so offended by being passed. I mean I get it if you do it in a jerk off way, but a clean 5mph over signal to the passing lane and back, why do they feel the need to speed up? I get passed by minivans and could care less.

Worst is I've had idiots speed up mid pass so I moved back in behind them and then they slowed down again… WTF? I must admit, the last guy who did I blew past the second time to put some distance between us, sorry I don't want to be around someone like that.

Any of you new owners experience this phenomenon yet?

The 996 seems to infuriate F150 and minivan drivers.

The GT3 gets the attention of every ricer and Mustang in the area. I let them blow by me, smiling as they no doubt think "I owned him..." yeah, sure pal, now give the car back to your sister.

I have a minivan that consistently pops up during my AM drive to work, when tries to pass me on the wraparound bend up and over an ICW bridge.

Yes, I've also done the "lead them into a turn at a speed they cannot possibly manage" and then watch the rear view to see if they come out of the turn on their side.

Sometimes on canyon runs, kids in VWs or BMWs will try to keep pace. Suspensions strained, big grins on their faces.

Newer owner here. People hate, hate, HATE to be passed by a 911 on the highway and will go to almost any length to block you. I really think it's a subconscious effort for 90% of drivers.

Absolutely. Being in the Houston area, it's the doofuses in their RAMs that try and mingle and they always lose. Minivans are also notoriously a-hole-ish for this type of behavior, no idea why. But yeah, it's a thing about being 'slower' than a car that's clearly faster than you, which makes no sense. I unfortunately am still a 13 year old at heart and entertain most all challenges when they arrive, no matter where lol. Except when the wife is in the car, as she doesn't like it too much... it is fun too as others have said, to go around bends or corners that literally most nothing else besides a 911 can handle and blow by them that way, as we don't have 'the' fastest car in a straight line anyway.

I've never had anyone try to race me in my 996 but I don't drive it a lot. In the mountains around here there are a lot of passing lanes and you get the morons site seeing and going 50MPH until they hit the passing lane and then literally accelerate to 80 until they hit the end of the passing lane. Very infuriating.

In all the years I've owned this hot rod I had only one guy challenge me. It was a Mustang (go figure!). He rev'd me and I was in a mood so I just did a line locked smokey burn out to heat up the tires real good. That in itself was probably enough to intimidate him but when the light turned green I did a short hop blast to about 30MPH and then backed off. He went flying by full throttle and turned off at the next corner. Most people just give me a thumbs up.

Minivans and Toyota Prius are the top two offenders in my area. Minivans for wanting to show me they can drive fast too. Toyota Prius drivers for being the most passive aggressive and angry drivers out there. Out of my 3 cars there is no doubt I drive the 996 the slowest in general, except when the conditions are ideal (wide open with no cars around) then I really open it up.
