What does "base" mean in the title of a classified?
I've been looking at car ads forever but I don't recall the term "base" in the title of an ad before a year or so ago. Like, "1999 911 Base" What does it mean? A car with no options? Why would this be something you would call out in the title? It's not a benefit meant to grab your attention is it?
It seems like it would be like calling out "1999 911 with high mileage and salvage title".
Also, in the English language we typically would put the adjective before the noun like "base 911" versus the currently more fashionable "911 base".
Maybe the car has an awesome stereo at lower tones--but that's spelled differently.
Can someone trace the origin of this from some foreign show like Top Gear or Greek mythology or wherever it came from and report back?

Oh come on you guys . . . Clearly the term "Base" has its roots in ancient German culture or possibly modern American pop culture or hell, some culture somewhere. Let's all go research and report back your findings: "What does 'Base' really signify?"

"996 = A purer form of speed". Sounds like a good slogan for a Rennlist 996 Forum t-shirt. I can only imagine the pics we could put with the slogan: a can of WD40, JohnnyIrish's Rolex, Hurdi's niece, carbon-fiber covered spatula . . .
I can have the museum's t-shirt guy work something up if anyone is interested.

We had Cayenne forum t-shirts made up a few years ago. I still have two of them.
