Default Window memory reset procedure?

Replaced my battery today. Now the auto-open/auto-close doesn't work on driver's side window. Works fine on passenger side.

I think I recall a thread recently where someone indicated that there is a procedure to remove whatever Alzheimer syndrome has hit the mechanism.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Going from my memory, close the window and hold the switch in the "up" position for 5s or so. Then open the window and hold the switch in the "down" position for 5s or so. Repeat on the other window.

I'll give that a shot. Yeah, I remembered something about holding the switch for a few seconds in some position, but couldn't recall the details.

Just did this the other day was sort of disappointed my car didn't have one touch windows. I'm new to the 996.

Down 10 seconds after full down
Up 10 seconds after full up
Down 10 seconds again after full down.

I have one touch up and down now 2003 c4s.

Thanks, guys... the up, hold for a few seconds, then down, hold for a few seconds worked! Window is fine now. Much appreciated.

Whew, bullet dodged. I was really hoping it wasn't IMSB related.

I understand that if you bolt some bent-up aluminum plate to the front fender, your windows will work better. Something about straightening out the air...

Thanks for the info; I just did the same thing. After disconnecting the battery to attempt to fix the horns by replacing the bracket, the auto/up down feature didn't work. Reset the windows using the advice above.
Now we get to drop the fascia to replace the horns, oh joy. (We replaced the fuse and the bracket, neither worked.) Really appreciate this forum!

I just dug up this thread as my passenger window started to act up this week on my 997.2 4S Cab. After opening the passenger door, the window would correctly open slightly, but would fail to close all the way back up after closing the door. This simple re-programming worked perfectly and saved me the hassle of heading to the shop for an unnecessary repair bill. Man, I LOVE this forum

Disconnected my battery to install aftermarket CarPlay into my PCM. Couldn’t figure out the windows and assumed I had blown a fuse or accidentally snapped a wire somewhere.

Tried the steps above and they saved my butt! Thanks for the help!

Where did you find an aftermarket CarPlay for the PCM? I have a 2015 911 Carrera 4S.

Same thing happened to me. Purchased car and on drive home couldn't believe didn't have one touch windows. Then remembered the reset procedure from by BMW. Voila!
Word to the wise, if you going to have the battery out for any significant length of time, crack the windows. Without power the windows won't do that little roll down on opening and closing a door.
