New A/C Compressor?
100+ degrees here all week in South Carolina, and of course my A/C died yesterday. Looks like the compressor is seized.
I see quite a range of prices. Any recommendations? Luckily I have a back up vehicle!

You could find a low mileage used one somewhere, but given the fact it will be a PITA to replace I would go for an OE supplier to Porsche $552 new one like this: http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=813-15
A new Porsche compressor is listed out for $1,867. If you DIY all you will need is to have an AC shop evacuate the system and charge it.
Question: Seized in like it doesn't even move/spin? When you engage the AC and the electromagnetic clutch engages the belt just starts slipping across the pulley and burning up the belt? Wow, that is a bummer ($)!

I think I'm going new. I've seen several places under $500 for new. OEM can be pricey, but not that much more. I have seen prices over $1,000 but see no reason to pay anywhere near that. Thanks!
