Did you do a ride along in an instructor's car? If not, buddy up with someone with an older 911...a ride with someone who really knows how to handle a pre-PSM 911 is an eye-opener, and it will give you even more appreciation for the 996 and the fact that it's not actively trying to kill you. Those guys have to work a lot harder to ensure that the back end doesn't abruptly become the front.
Yes! The instructer showed me what my car can do! Quite impressive. I wish I knew someone I could bum a ride in a 993, I wAnna see what this whole "lift-off oversteer" is all about
just wait until you do a DE event at a race track with continuous lapping. As much fun as AX is, the track is way better.
Its a very slippery slope
^^^ This. Auto-X is quite fun and I do it frequently, but after you do a DE track event, Auto-X will seem a bit lame.
I like to watch how the guys who tape up their cars look like they are driving a "just married" car after a few laps, with long streamers of tape flapping merrily in the wind.
Oh yeah, completely addicting. I started AutoX 3 years ago and now venturing into track. Got so hooked that I bought a dedicated 996. I have an AutoX this Saturday and going to Summit Point next weekend. Life is good!
