Yeah, no plans to change anything else - just stick the cap in and move on with life.

I guess I over-read the threads and confused myself unnecessarily. Thanks!

This has been posted other places, but for those of us who don't want to track down a plastic cap we can go buy one of these - http://www.homedepot.com/p/Oatey-2-i...3401/100346775

Works great.

This whole mod works even better when you pull the space wasting resonator box out of the airbox.

II removed the resonator box and bought two of those and used both top pieces. I also bought a bath tub drain gasket and used it on the inside as a seal. I also added a lock nut on top of the wing nut. I bought the silicone intake here for $32 http://www.ebay.com/itm/281571994640 I also bought the minature K&N looking filter since I have a tip.

I just did the mod today. Used the intake hose I received from this eBay listing:

Found a rubber cover for the resonator intake(?) at Ace hardware that fits perfect and looks more or less stock. Drove it around a little tonight. Throttle response might feel a little quicker (placebo?), but there is a definite difference in sound, especially as RPM's go up. I like the comparison someone else made to putting a playing card in your spokes. It may or may not do much, but the sound is kinda fun. ~$30 all-in for yet another reason to smile while driving the car? Worth it.

That said, has anyone come across a reason to NOT do this? (i.e., am I gonna break something down the road? Worse fuel economy? Spontaneous engine explosion?)

Did the mod today as well. I, on the contrary, don't feel much of a difference...... bu I have a Fabspeed exhaust, so above 4K it's pretty loud anyhow.

I have stock exhaust but did the Otay version (used two also, one inside, one outside) and removed the resonator box. Definitely sounds better with WOT! No real difference in sound until you put your foot into it. I'm probably about $40+ in with the parts. Definitely easy and worth the effort, although I've noticed no performance gain.

Homedepot carries the caps. It's called a knockout cap. You'll need a 1 1/2" one. No orange though they only carry it in white and it sells for 37 cents. Installed mine today and can hear a difference at about 3500-4000 rpm.

was it just a screw on cap or did you have to do something from the backside as well? Pics?
