Matte white dilemma

Matte white dilemma
Just going to shoot this out there and see what you guys think.
I have a 2001 C2 Aero kit and will be painting it for the spring.
Currently silver, with road chips, swirls, scratches, etc.. its time for a new paint job.
The job will be done by a highly reputable body shop I've been using for years. From my DD Audi to Cayman.
I was thinking about going flat (or matte) white.
Gloss paint reflects 80% sunlight whereas matte paint reflects 20%...and I think its a "different" concept which brings the little boy out of me.
Anyway, bottom line is...what do you guys think of a matte white C2 with an aero kit on my black HRE 18's.
NOT plasti-dip, not vynil wrap or any of that stuff. A full paint job.
Shoot!
...would LOVE to do graphics on it after

Have you looked into what it is involved to take care of a "frozen" car?
There is also the question of if your shop is up to the job. From everything I read you want someone that has been trained in the technique (and ideally has already has some experience doing it) or you can end up with something that looks like you took a rattle can to it yourself.
When my Cayenne was getting a full repaint (construction company's) I thought about it and looked into it after seeing it all sanded down. It looked really cool, but i can go years between car washes and that paint needs lots more attention and care. While I trust my shop and have been using them for over 15 years for all my cars, their painter would have been learning on my car.
As far as white, I don't know how that would look. Most people might not even notice. I don't like black as it does just look like primer. The best matte/frozen cars I've seen have been dark blue or dark red.

Matte white would be sweet.
I used single stage PPG matte black on my H1 and it held up very well. Daily driven, mashed up against the ground, rubbing up against branches, etc.
It was very easy to take care of, just wash with soap and water. Areas that are frequently touched will get glossy from human touch. I used a standard automotive sponge to clean the truck and would vigorously rub the areas that would get oils on them.

I believe this fad will soon be out of style. It immediately drops resale value.
I hate matte paint & white paint, particularly on 911's, especially 996's as it hides the iconic silouette, which some people say (not I ) is all the 996 has gooing for it.

While the H1 is TOTALLY different than the 996, I was able to sell my truck at a premium because of the paint. But it does remove a large group of people who want a stock car from the "buyers pool."

Assume you are stretching the truth about this trend by including Hot Rods driving around with paint primer on them until the owner can afford to finish the paint process.

You read my mind, I'm stuck between gray/graphite and black GT3 accents. Might go black because I have black HRE wheels on there now.

Yep, from the reading up I've done taking care of a matte finish isn't any harder than properly taking care of a gloss finish. I'm not going for a show car perfect look...just fun to change it up a bit.
But good to know I won't be needing any out of the ordinary materials to clean it, thanks!

I have to disagree about the "fad" going out of style...why else would BMW offer the new M4 and M6 gran coupe in matte finishes? And Mercedes-Benz? And the Audi RS7/R8? If anything, it may be going INto style...I recall Hyundai offering a matte finish for their veloster.
I agree, before "proper" matte finishes were introduced, the flat black people would throw on some cars just wouldn't do it. But hey, we're all entitled to our opinions, aren't we?
My 987.2 Cayman S is speed yellow and my A5 is Aruba blue, having a white car in the garage wouldn't hurt at all.

Gloss white looks AWESOME on aero kits. I would get gloss white paint, and a matte white vinyl wrap!
This is going to sound kind of crazy, but the whole gloss/matte style thing went down in the paintball world. Most of you are too old for paintball...
The guns are aluminum bodies, and were always anodized with gloss finishes. Around 2006, the "dust" anno finishes became all you could get. Now, it's back to the gloss. I liked the "dust" finishes because they didn't scratch so easily when you dove around in the dirt and sand.
I do think the matte paint/wrap on a car looks good if done right, and then you won't notice the little imperfections as much.

Well that's a double whammy.

I 1st heard of MBZ doing this, BMW or Audi have to follow or risk losing sales to the FEW that buy them.

Yes we are, you asked for some & I didn't want you to be misled that this was a slam dunk.

I do like white on high-perf cars IF it has proper black accents.

Here is my 87 928S4 in matte graphite with the chrome manhole covers. My avatar shows same but with Turbo Twists. Have received quite a lot of compliments but as has been said, I think it has to fit the car. With that said, if you like it go for it!
