Default Good mechanic in Denver area?

So, I had another post about my hardships with a mechanic here in the Denver area. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ims-issue.html

Update to this post is after about 3 weeks my clutch is "done" .. in the essence that it doesn't reverse and the mechanic doesn't know why. All for the low low price of $3000.

SO .. after a lot of stress/money/time my 996 is back in my garage and isn't in much better shape than when she left. I may need a extensive repair/rebuild on the engine, the clutch will need to be RE-done or at least figure out why it won't go into reverse (possible linkage problem) , and lets just go with RMS, IMS and AOS for good measure.

In Colorado Springs, European Performance Specialists worked on my 944 and they took really good care of me. I'd like to find a mechanic here in Denver that is just as good or better. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any experiences? What did you have done? How much did it cost? Why are they great?

I really don't want to have to tow my 996 all the way down to the Springs for mechanical work. Thanks in advance.

Are you saying he replaced the IMSB but botched the clutch R&R or was the $3000 for the clutch? Now it needs a rebuild? WTF? Your sump was full of copper, what did he repair? Have you been driving it like this?

Have you looked under the car and checked the linkage yourself? Common for them to partially come off at trans if not secured. This is moot if the engine is trashed.

Maybe you could clarify what happened but at least your thread does fit in with this weeks theme. Sorry for your engne problems.

I've used 3zero3 Motorsports in Wheatridge for years. They have worked on all my Porsches and Audis. They do great work and they stand behind it. They do great performance tuning work too.

FWIW, my experience at Prestige Imports has been great too if you need the services of a dealer.

Guys at Storz on vine and 13th are wonderful. Also Chance at Stevenson is a fantastic mechanic. He did my ims/rms/aos last year. Very happy with his through work, detailed pictures and taking me through each part he took off.

$3000 for the clutch and flywheel, Have not been driving it, just need it to be able to move so I can get it on a dolly.

$3000 really seems out of line for just that. So this did not include the IMSB R&R while trans was out? Shouldnt he warranty the clutch work for no charge?

I bet there is a forum member close to you that might be able to help you get your car sorted out. Many on here enjoy helping out and even loaning tools.

You sir are correct, thus why I'm looking for a better mechanic.

OK, sorry for the questions but now I get it. The guy sounds like a real jerk. Maybe you can get it sorted out and pursue small claims or something.

Well, as much as people put down dealers I always take mine to Stevinson Porsche. And only one guy works on my cars. His name is Chance Chenoweth. Knows his stuff and loves his job.

^^^ +1

He worked on our Cayenne S. He took time to explain things as he was working as well.

Also, Luke at Prestige Imports is very good.

Agree, both Denver area Porsche dealers have great service... A bit more expensive than most indie's, but you do get some extras. Nice loaner cars, and they often send out coupons for service discounts or sometimes a free detail or oil changes with service.

There are also several very good independents for general Porsche Repair, several more top-notch air cooled shops, and some really good race prep shops as well!
