This is why I love Porsche. The impossible is possible with a Porsche.

Get him to help you. I am sure he can push it back in place!

haha...i don't want that guy anywhere near my car.

So even though my cats are mk1 gt3 parts, the internals have been completely modified by ruf to be 100 cell. Spoke with ruf and will need to send to germany for a proper rebuild.

In the meantime, i'm planning on going with a cat bypass xpipe for a temporary solution.

You should have them rebuild it with 200 cell cat elements.

Why do you say that.

Well unless you don't have to worry about emissions in your area or future resale, 200 cell cats will do a better job of filtering, less chance of CEL light coming on, and will only be marginally more in cost to the 100. 100's almost always sets off CEL's in our finicky systems unless O2 extenders are used. In Germany where RUF comes from, 100 cell cats may not be a problem over there. Also their ECU's have different operating parameters over there.

I don't have to worry about that since the car has had the 100 cell from factory since new. Has never thrown a CEL and passes inspection without issue. As for resale, i think rebuilding them to their original specifications is better than making modifications. Hopefully wont need to sell for a long time if ever.

Hmmm, not really sure I understand. The factory cats have 2 sets of cat elements on each bank and they are closer to 400cpsi.

Aftermarket usually only consists of 1 cat elements on each bank and is 100 or 200.

I don't know what your readings are but 100cpsi elements are illegal in some areas since they can't meet emission requirements.

What i meant is that the car was built with and shipped with the 100 cpsi cats from ruf for the US market and has had no problems with CEL or passing inspection. Thats why when the cats get rebuilt, i would prefer them to be rebuilt to their original specifications.

I'm not sure if RUF was specifically built for the US market or came over as a gray market item from certain resellers. All I know is their products would've been technically illegal to sell in some areas.

Either way if 100 elements works for you, more power to you.

Is it even cost effective to get them rebuilt over there? Or do you want to stick to the RUF brand?

its not cost effective, but its the only way they will rebuild the cats and I want to stick to the brand. Ruf will be partnering with a California company shortly (early next year) and I'll see what my options are at that point for the rebuild or if it makes sense to just replace the parts with new ones.
