Default Coolant hoses replacement

I plan on doing some preventative maintenance this winter on my 2002 996 wide body ( C4S). I have a portable lift which will get the car about 30" off the ground so it should make this unpleasant job easier. My question is : has anyone replaced all their coolant hoses at one shot ( at least the ones you can get to without dropping the engine...and if so did you make a list of the part numbers needed ? Any help would be appreciated....

You can access a few of these with the engine in place http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=105-05

And these look like pain http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=105-10

I would suggest just inspect the ones you can see/reach and replace only if needed. Way too many to replace all.

Going to have to point out that if you feel the need to replace some hoses due to age and as preventative maintenance you should replace them all. They are all the same age and have been exposed to the same coolant.

Up to you of course, but my advice would be to leave the hoses alone, unless of course an inspection turns up signs of hose trouble.

Some few years ago, I looked into having the hoses all replaced when my Boxster was in for a new coolant tank. This failed at approx. 220K miles.

The tech talked me out of this job said his experience is the hoses are very long lived. He also said the job is rather expensive. Hoses are not cheap and a goodly amount of labor is required to replace them all.

Absent any signs of trouble -- my car is checked regularly when in for servicing -- I leave the original hoses alone.

Oh, last but not least, I might add that I have the coolant drained and refilled with fresh coolant mix every 4 years or so.

There are a lot of hoses on a 996 I have replaced several on my 2000 over the last few years. I haven't put together a full list but if you go OEM you are talking $500-$1,000 in parts alone. And some of the hoses are only available OEM.

I just replaced two heater supply and return hoses. Each list for $73.90@. I found a URO version of one for less than $20, but could not find an aftermarket for the other. Thankfully I have made friends with the parts guys at a local dealer. Ther are also sources like Sunset, Suncoast, Sonnen, etc. for OEM parts.
