Luciendar21....yeah, I know...I live in New England.
BTW, if a 3 hr ride to look at a car is turning you off, you might find your search very frustrating. I was driving 3 hours to check out cars in NJ and LI every weekend for a month and a half, lol. There's just not as many cars to look at up here as there are down in FL or in Cali.
Good luck with the search.

What are the additional issues concerns with the Targa models? This one appears to be a good example.

It adds something like 210 pounds at the very top of the car, exactly where you don't want it, since it raises the center of gravity. That affects handling a bit, depending on what you can sense. Other major options like the cabriolet top, Tiptronic, and 4WD also add weight but less and way down lower. And depending on driver size, in the Targa there is a "rail" on the left above the window that houses the Targa roof tracks-- I am taller and hit my head if I leaned to the left.

I cross-posted it to Seattle Craigslist (my other West Coast location) just for broader exposure, turns out that may be what actually sells the car.

Four local-ish 99's, three with varying degrees of engine work - not that I'm looking, but it's fun to see what's out there.
1 - 3.8, silver and bling, $27,400
2 - Guards red, $22,000
3 - Arena red, $22,500
Obvious caveats re someone else's rebuild, especially the guards red car that has less than 5k miles since the work was done. I love that Arena red though.
And one more:
Red C2 tip, 83k miles and "all Porsche service", $16k - seems pretty good value if you don't want a 6spd?

Ultimately though what I'm looking for is a small, sporty car that I can buy, run for a few years with my paltry 3k-5k mi/yr, and then sell it for what I bought it for. So let's say I buy this car for $11k and put $3500 into it, could I sell it 2-5 years from now with 200k and excellent condition for $14500? Maybe, but I'd be a lot more comfortable under $14k... so, long story short I'm going to shoot for $10k with a cap of $11k and if the owner says no, oh well.
Also for point of reference and in spirit of this thread (albeit blasphemously), if my budget was a little higher I'd probably grab this 01 M5 for $18k. In that condition at 117k in 2-5 years, I'd probably be able to make $5k on it.

Nice little 6 speed cab with 101k miles, asking $15,900. No affiliation, but just about 10 minutes from me if anyone wants a Rennfax done. Appears to be private seller. Nice part of town.
