Default c4s coilivers

At the risk of starting "yet another" type thread,
I'm looking for feedback on various coil overs people have tried
I'm leaning towards the KW setup, but anyone know the + and - versus Bilstein PSS 10 or other kits - Ohlins?

Any input greatly appreciated

For mainly street driven car

Quite a lot of the guys in the turbo forum on Rennlist enjoy the Ohlins as a daily driver. A few of them argue that while they're great for the street, they could use better/stiffer springs for the track.

Overkill. Daily driving Ohlins is like bringing a cannon to a knife fight.

Get a hold of X73 suspension from Porsche and be done with it. It is the factory tuned ROW sport setup. Perfect for what you are looking for.

Unfortunately, the X73 suspension for the 996 is no longer made and sold new, so they aren't easy to get.

Just purchased a BC Racing Coilover kit, will hopefully have it installed soon and will definitely share my experience.

I ran BC on my 996C2, they transformed the car. I highly recommend them.

Do you have a budget? What is the reason for swapping to coilovers? Tracking car? Or just want adjustability? Ohlins would be my choice since they are now available for our 996s. I have H&R coilovers which are not adjustable aside from ride height. Coupled with tarret camber plates they perform quite well.

In that case, contact Gert and see if you can still purchase 996 ROW sport springs and ask if there is a corresponding Bilstein shock that goes with it. Tell him that you are looking for a setup similar to a X73/X74.

The only thing left are the sways and you can upgrade to GT3 sways.

Many ways to think outside of the box just for a street car that will handle great!

No real budget
They all seem to be in the $3-4k CDN range
Thinking of swapping for handling mainly
This is a DD, 95% street time
Car has 93k km so suspension a little tired

If you are patient you may find a used set on here. I originally had Techart coilovers but had to replace them due to worn shocks. I managed to find an almost new set of H&R coilovers (mostly by luck) for $1K and a good local indy to install. Something like $1500 all-in.

Actually that just reminded me that I still have my Techarts in the garage. I should really send them off for a rebuild.

In that case you cant go wrong with the KW3s, PSS10s or Ohlins. All are adjustable so if you decide to firm them up for track days you can. Find a good indy to install, align and corner balance the car. Its a bit pricey but worth it. Shock mounts will probably be shot as well so while your in there...

My thoughts exactly, go with coilovers so I can get proper geometry setup
I find you can really notice it on these cars

I'm assuming ill do sway bars, end links and top mounts at the same time

don't the KWs come with upper mounts?

Anyone know spring rates on the KWs, Ohlins and PSS10s?

Pete,

Did you get the Ohlins Road & Track kit or a completely custom Ohlins setup for your C4S?
