Could be a myriad of things...need more info, for example:
-- Year and variant of your Porsche 996?
-- CEL on or off? If on, what codes are being thrown?
-- Did you fuel up just before these symptoms appeared?
-- Who did your service--dealer, reputable indy, some bloke who had some tools and claimed to know "Porch-ahs"?
Without more information you'll get loads of opinions, but probably not much help other than "take it back to the folks who did your service" which is what I recommend provided you had someone who really knows Porsches work on it in the first place.
Good luck

You need more information from your mechanic. How did they know there was an O2 issue? Codes are error codes registered in the DME (engine control module) and they are read with an OBDII code reader. If a code is registered regarding something amiss with the engine, it will register a specific code identifying what is wrong, such as an 02 sensor (and which particular one, there are 4). It will also light up the CEL, check engine light. Did your mechanic specify how they knew there was an "O2" problem? Why did they change the air filter for an "O2" (oxygen sensor) problem? Did they remember to reconnect the MAF sensor on the airbox? You can easily check that one yourself. Make sure the oil filler cap is on tight and check the oil filler pipe for cracks (they usually crack at the joint between the smooth part of the tube and the corrugated part, or in the corrugated section). The reason I suggest this is that you have to move the oil filler pipe quite a bit when removing the air box to replace the filter. That's usually when it breaks or cracks. Take the car back to the mechanic and have them check it again with a code reader. Does your CEL work?

Really don't understand why YOU have to diagnose or spend the effort on something you recently paid to have done.
Any good service shop would gladly look at it again and warrantee any of their work if it is found to be the culprit.

I took it back to the mechanic, he checked everything, made sure it was all plugged in and the sensors were clean and now it is running perfectly again.
His diagnosis was I must have had a bad batch of petrol (as i filled up just after the service) mixed with something possibly being lose or dirty causing the car to stall whenever i stopped.
Thanks for everyone's comments
