Default The Porsche 996 - The stress reducer

Late night at the office, stressful day, then walked up to this beauty and realized I was about 60 secs away from top down motoring in pure bliss on a late summer night - and all was well in the universe.

I am pretty sure there will always be a 911 in my garage.

I'd have to agree, it used to be motorcycles for me.
If I were asked today, I'd probably say that I will keep some incarnation
of a 911 for the remainder of my life

should have done this much earlier....

I honestly just thought about posting a very similar thread last night...it was a long day, hot, muggy, stressful (work in office, but go on a lot of outbound meetings). When I left for the day, made it past my first turn rowing through the gears, all was well.

My day instantly got better, something about the feel of these cars, I feel like I'm right in the middle of everything.

Congrats OP that you feel it too.

Porsche therapy is good. Opening the suroof (or lowering the cabriolet top if you have a 'vert) is a great way to shift mentally out of "work mode."

+996
I always keep one of my fishing poles at the office. As soon as I feel that I'm going to fire one my employees that day I just grab my fishing pole and keys and take off. Usually end up at big bear lake as the drive up is fantastic and fishing is pretty well too.

996pp do you end up firing them after? Or does the rest and relaxation calm the nerves.

Usually rest and relaxation calms the nerves. The beauty of a Porsche and fishing combined.
Sometimes I start looking for a reason to get pissed off just so I can take off from the office LOL

Driving the 996 in a pissed off fashion is the best way to drive it.

Hahahahahaha... enjoying this thread. I on the other hand have been working down here in this jungle (Belize) driving a slow going 4x4 Land Rover daily, for the past few months. Dreaming of the day in November when I am reunited with my P-car. Dreaming about driving 100+ , with top down on the Florida turnpike. Yes, there is therapy in that. Cheers!

I'll play Debbie Downer here and offer the counter point.

Really bad few days so I blew off work today and spent the morning driving. Happened to be the 996 I took since my son's car seat was in the P!g and I didn't want to mess with it.

It was a pleasant enough drive exploring some back roads I'd never been on before and included a few waves from other P drivers (pretty rare in my experience).

At the end of the trip though the day still sucked.

Somethings not even a drive in a Porsche can solve...

Gnat, not all things can be solved, question is, for even a few moments behind the wheel, did it "take you away" even a bit? Whether it was 10 seconds or 2 minutes.
