Default What's wrong with my car?

Today my 996's mileometer has just gone over 115,000 miles, the problem is it's still running. It doesn't leak oil, it doesn't smoke, there's no bits in the oil filter and it starts every morning and takes me to work, is this correct? am I doing something wrong?

I have the same problem with mine, maybe we need to stare a poll!

There are more than a few 996s on this board that are past that number by quiet a few 10s of thousands of miles; my car included.

In the next 5 years 150,000 miles 996 will become a norm rather than exception. There is no reason not to use 996 as a daily driver or a commuter.

I will be impressed when someone breaks 500,000 miles on their 996 while on the original motor and transmission.

I realise that mine isn't going to be the highest mileage, I just wanted to see a 996 thread with lots of positives.

After reading various forums I started believing my car would blow up, disintegrate, lay over and die, make me fatherless and future kids inherit-less. But the amazing thing, it still puts the fattest grin on my face, never disappoints, rather returns more of a joy every time. But you do have to treat her nicely though, a little nip and tuck, expensive spa treatments and the like.

Doesn't get any better than a 911 for a daily driver

Gazzy - Original IMS? Also does the chains slap and rattle any on startup?

Either way that is very impressive!

dmw, all original, 2000 C4 tip, has a little ticking on start up but has been like that for the past couple of years anyway, so, I start it up every morning and have a cig, by the time I've finished that it's quiet. I believe the cam chain and followers, rumour has it, should be changed around the 120,000 mark, I'll worry about that when I get to it. I've just realised that it also has the original RMS as well.
