Hello,
I know people have voiced their opinions regarding ride quality on different tires. My Pirelli tires are just about at the end of their life, and I've begun to look for new tires. I wasn't too happy with the ride quality that I have received from my Pirelli's (very loud..too many rattles). From what I've heard, the Contis, Michelin, and Yokos all provide better rides than those of the Pirelli. I don't track my car much, and the roads in Chicago make for quite an uncomfortable ride.

Before you do anything, you need to understand that any given tire becomes noisy as it wears. As such, no matter what new tire you get, it will immediately be quieter. Having said that, here's a list of the latest Porsche installed 18" tires and the way they are labeled by the factory. I think you can make your own judgment as to which one may be quieter and more comfortable.

- Bridgestone S-02A / Sports
- Continental Sport Contact 2 / Sports
- Michelin Pilot Sport / Sports
- Pirelli P-Zero Rosso / Sports
- Dunlop SP Sport 9090 / All-around
- Yokohama AVS Sport / All-around

I would guess that "all-around" is less noisy and more comfortable than sports.

I have the same issue with my car which is on Assymetrico's and the noise on concrete and thumps from expansion joints at times drive me nuts.

I asked a guy who writes for an English car magazine what he runs on his C2 and he just switched from Pilot Sports to Rosso's which he thinks are the best. I've also been told that the SportContact2's are a good all round tire.

All I know is that it's unlikely I will be putting on aother set of Assymetrico's when these are worn...

I have P-Zero Rosso Assymetrico's and love them. They are good on dry or wet pavement and on the road or track. Yes, they get noisy when they wear out, but if you lower the top, and open your windows you won't hear them anymore.

BTW sentipede, I hope that's a typo and you have 295s in the rear!

Nope, I'm almost positive that I have P-Zero Assymetrico 265/35 ZR18s in the back of my 2000 C4 coupe.

Is this bad?

Great posts and i agree with KWC4S turn up the stereo.....most tires are gtreat new but as wear/tear occurs they get louder/rougher ride thanks

Aside from noise issue, which is the best tyre?

I have a C4 on 18"- and live in a wet climate.

That all depends on how you define "best."

Tire noise really depends upon the road surface upon which you are driving upon.

Better get a set of track tires though.
