Default Bumper Plugs

This is weird.

I've had my car for a little over a month now and I was just looking through the Front License plate bracket/kit that comes w/the car and notice 2 little plugs. My car came with painted bumper plugs. Is that normal or did I just get Lucky?

My GT3 came with them as well. I had already ordered bumper plugs and door key plug from bumperplugs.com which I will keep for backup. It was a pleasant surprise.

It appears that bumper plugs are coming on '04 cars. Maybe, Eric made a deal with Porsche to supply them with plugs?

Viken,

I have not compared Eric's to the ones that came with the car. The dealer had already installed them. I will look at them tonight.

Just read on another forum......Eric says they are not his and not as good of course!

did your car come from suncoast? they make their own plugs so they may just put them on all their cars...

if it didn't im sure there are more places to buy bumperplugs for P-cars (than suncoast and eric) and a dealer may have tapped them for all their cars (clever, since the front plate really ruins the lines on P-cars)

of course i got mine from eric, great service/fast delivery/great colour match

My car did not come from Suncoast. The bumperplugs were actually in a small plastic bag in the boot. My salesman was surprised to see them as well. He put them on while I was taking delivery. I also have a set from Eric.

Do you guys in the US not have to fit a front licence plate?

In the UK you would be transported to Alcatraz for having the incorrect font on a licence plate, let alone not having one at all!!

it varies state by state,

and even in states where it is illegal to not have both plates, it is a seldom enforced law

most cops are too busy oogling at the sports car flying by

In the UK we have a lot of fixed and mobile speed camaras that photgraph the front of the car, hence the feds interest in making sure the plate is fitted. Also the number recognition systems have difficulty with non-standard fonts.

Sorry about the wrong signature, got my GT3 mid-June, forgot to change my profile.

Default Bumper Plugs from Porsche

I have received both of my GT3's this past week and both came from the factory with color matched bumper plugs. they are different from "bumperplugs" they have a domed head vs. a flat head.

Actually, Porsche is supplying some models with an imitation of our original Bumper Plugs. They are NOT the same. Do NOT confuse them with the original from the original source - bumperplugs.com.

The ones you are seeing on some of these models cannot be removed without destroying them, and many of the ones we've obtained and tested are loose on the bumper. Ours are designed to be inserted and can be removed and reinserted if needed.

But, for free, you get what you pay for.

Eric,

I have news for you...your bumper plugs are loose in the bumper (at least mine are)...but they're not in the GT3.

Colm:

The plugs from us should fit flush against the surface, but be able to slide side to side. If anyone buys from us and had any trouble, we urge them to contact us immediately to resolve.

From time to time, holes may be reamed and that can cause the loose fit. But we have solutions to help those owners if they contact us with anything like that.
