Default How to remove this part?

I have a new convertible top in the factory Graphite Grey colour. Unfortunately the convertible top cover and side flaps (as I believe they are called from looking at parts diagrams) are as dirty and weathered as the old top. I would like to remove these pieces initially to clean them and if that's unsuccessful to replace them. Any ideas how to do so? Both the workshop manual that I have access to and the Bentley book are quiet on the subject.

First I would remove the wind screen...

I took the large roll-bar cover off (its the large part) a while back and it was pretty easy to get off.

This thread should be useful: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...t-a-997-a.html

As for the flaps on the side, I have not taken them off but I think if you start raising the top until the flaps do their 90 degree turn and then stop the raising process, you will have access to the bottom of the flaps. I think the flaps just slide off of a plate, they are held on by little plastic tabs.

Also, you can recover both the large roll bar cover and the flaps with new cloth material rather than buying new parts. I think the roll bar cover may cost upward of $1,500 from Porsche.

Here is a pic of my roll bar cover out of the car (mine had been broken in multiple places, I think someone stood on it).

Hope all that is helpful. Is that a White top!?!?!? Must look sweet but the idea of keeping it clean is scary. More pics please.

Thanks for those links. Just what I needed! Also good idea about getting them recovered. That is most likely the way to go since I'm not sure how well the after market graphite grey top actually matched the factory colour and how well I'll be able to clean those covers. The top is graphite grey but it looks lighter in that picture. Here's a better one: image-3491905581.jpg

Nice. If I recall you want to be careful removing the two small oval roll bar covers from the larger roll-bar cover deck. The plastic can easily break. I think you pry on them from the back of the car and they each have two small plastic hinges on the front side (underneath). Dont quote me on that though. The idea with the system is that when the two roll bars deploy, the oval covers unsnap from the back and pivot on the hinges on the front side so they can be reused (rather than going flying in the air).
