Default Climate control unit flashing

Had the climate control unit replaced on my 04 996. The led's were bad. Now when I start the car up sometimes, not all the time, the led's flash a couple of times. Everything works fine after but I assume this is some type or error indication. Any ideas?

No worries. If I'm not mistaken, this is due to the reset of the new unit. Count the number of blinks each time. It should blink one time less every time the car is started. So eventually it will stop blinking.

The unit is flashing 9 times. I turned on and off the car a number of times however it stays steady at 9.

Then it's something else. I believe you are correct that it's indicating some sort of error it has detected and the fault is still present. If you have a Durametric, you could retrieve the error code(s).

Any other way to get error code? Seems like I should be able to push some combination on the climate control.

A possibility is the ECU may need to be reset to "identify" the new system. You might need PIWIS or PST2 to find the new system...

Before I do something stupid let me check. I can clear all the codes and reset by disconnecting the battery right?

You need to do a system test to adapt the new unit.

This is too funny. I had the exact issue a few months back after I did the "System Test" using Durametric (the a/c system had no error codes detected by Durametric). During the test, all the display segments were turned on, the servos all ran full ranges like what's described above. After that, the ac display started flashing every time I start my car.

I swear the ac display flashed less and less and eventually stopped flashing after a few wks or so. Last night I checked, it's flashing exactly 9 times like the OP. So I did the "System Test" using Durametric again but nothing changed. Still flashing.

So is it possible somehow Durametric does not do the full test like PIWIS and PST2? Surely it tried and seemed to be doing the same tests.

Or maybe it's contagious?

Default Old thread I know but solved.

Same issue for me. Ran Durametic and unit started flashing upon start up.

Read aomething on another forum that had porsche workshop instructions for AC system test. One instruction said “car must be on”. So I tried duramtric again with car ignition on and started. Re-ran AC system test and flashing went away.

This was on a 2006 997 C4S.

Ran into this issue. flashing 9 times. I ran the system test...status bar shows completed, but then when I go to run the A/C everything runs for like a minute, compressor kicks on and then poof...blows the fuse in b10.

I changed out my ignition switch this weekend....dont think I touched anything climate related. Anyone ever encounter any of this?
