Parts and processes to create one of my engines cost 14k... That's not counting any assembly or my machine work.

We see lots of these 10k engines these days, it's a lit different than in the early days when we were the only people tearing into these engines and everything was a virgin. Today the amount of engines that have been molested is staggering and we generally can't even use them as cores to work from...

It's only going to get worse. You will always get what you pay for. People usually have to experience this to understand it.
Just like this fellow did:

I've decided to offer this engine for sale at 10k with a rebuildable core or 12k without. If you guys want in before I post it in the classifieds / ebay send me a pm. These prices are FIRM, if I don't get that I'll just finish the Boxster build. If I sell the motor I'll be listing various CF parts soon afterwards too BTW.

To be clear, this is not a 10k rebuild like Jake is talking about but a virtually new engine.

Very good price on this engine.. Especially considering the current core charges.
After the current crate engine inventory is gone there will be no more, just short blocks...

If you can post some documentation showing its provenance I think $12k is decent price for a full engine
