To part a car out you need lots of indoor room, time and know how. The large popular parts will sell fast but the rest will take a long time. If you have room for a half taken apart car to sit for years then go for it.

This is exactly why I chose to sell mine as it was. Also, I needed the room in my garage for my replacement 997.2 C2S.

Reference point - I paid $5k for an 02 Targa a few weeks back. Engine torn down for cold-start smoke issues due to scored bores. Body and interior very very clean. Chassis miles 100k.

Not really, strip the easy stuff and easy sales. Selling tranny, seats, wheels and tires, tail lights, head lights, bumpers, rear hood, exhaust and cats, water pump. Will get an easy 5-8k. Doesn't take much room. Ship the chassis with the hard sell stuff to the wrecker and sell the core.

It took quiet a bit of room to part out my 928 and the 996 is about the same size. Unless you sell the parts very cheap (less than half of what the wreckers sell them for) you will be sitting on them for a while. You will need more than a single car garage because the neighbours will get sick of looking at a half taken apart car and if you well a door, the interrior needs to be protected. Its not as easy as one thinks.

wow, didn't expect this much interest to get spun up about my dead car!
either way 5-8k is brutal for this car, sorta shocked it is that low, parting it out won't happen, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it... so I suppose rebuild is my only option still... unless one of you crazies wants to make me an offer that is bad for you haha.
and for those asking the car is in Illinois![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
appreciate the answers everybody
