My car started up fine this morning (in the garage) but was reeaaaaallllyyyy sluggish to start when I tried to come home (20F). The engine temp light was blinking for about 10 minutes, too, which I've never seen before.

Other good news: Dunlop ZIIs appear to do just fine down to 20F

My car has done great these past few days and seemed to actually run better in the 7 degree temperatures.

Unfortunately I can't say the same about the cold water pipes in our house. Thankfully the plumber is on his way now!

Hey, apparently my engine temp light was blinking because my coolant expansion tank was bone dry. Added about a quart of distilled water and it appears fine but I'm really worried. Really hoping it was just a loose cap.

Before you park it for the night, check and make sure the coolant has mixed with the water in the tank.

I added the water last night. It wasn't mixed at all last night (garage was above freezing so no worries), and didn't mix much during my morning commute; I checked it every 2 hours or so most of the morning and ran the car up to temp twice to keep the tank temp above freezing until temps rose in the afternoon. It seems to have mixed pretty well on the way home today though- just in time for it to get warm again. No signs of new leaking. Really hoping it's just the cap! Seems to be sealing well; I may have had it loose all summer and just not noticed the level dropping until the cold temps caused enough contraction to set off the sensor.
