Heh. It's over-analysis until you open the hatch of your six-month-old X5 and find that the threads split on your previous crappy container. At this point, staring thoughtfully at a bunch of stupid plastic jugs will seem like a worthwhile activity.

I really like the Harbor Freight Extra Heavy Duty Nitrile Gloves! :-)
I also agree that oil containers make no difference at all until the day you end up with multiple quarts all over your garage floor...

In the last 20 years of changing oil, I've never had issues primarily because I just empty my oil into any generic milk or OJ containers I may have laying around. I simply drop off the containers at a local auto parts store. Simple and done.
I might have to try the HF black versions. I tried the older blue versions and they were crap.

If you bring oil to an auto parts store in The People's Democratic Republic of California, they make you dump the oil and take the containers to avoid being fined for having "hazardous waste" in the garbage.

One question I am having a hard time to understand:
Schnell explained how the hippies have to bring back their dirty containers home (because you know, they become less dirty then), but for the rest of us, how is it that no one seems to be putting back the old oil in the new oil container that you just emptied into the car?

Man oil threads just rule! I keep several of these chlorine tab 5 gallon buckets on hand to store used oil in until I can get it to the City recycle tank. Yes, I do so much oil changing on our vehicles, at least 3 of them stay full of used oil at all times.

I started this thread looking for a high quality drain pan /
Carry container made of metal or of high quality
I know there are a million things oil can be carried in

Krazy, I think you should get some quart bottles labeled and start selling your used oil. JG DT40 with only 2-3 hours of operating time ought to be worth at least $5 a quart.

You also started a Radar detector thread that has "gone down the drain" as well and look where that got you? When are you going to learn?
