Engine out + advice, please
change the transmission oil, it really make for better shift.
I also have shifting problem now that I have the RS motor mount, under heavy load on turns I miss sometime the 2 to 3 gear. I had no problem before..
as soon as you change anything, something comes up, stay stock as much as possible to avoid problem.

Wow:
This is why I love this forum. Great advice. A lot is being addressed, some items might need to be deferred to Spring, we'll see what the clutch looks like on Friday.
@Van, this is going to cost a small fortune, but I haven't had to do major maintenance to this car. It is time. The serpentine belt was replaced a short time ago and I carry a spare. MAF, etc, seems to be fine. As for a race car, not yet, I want to instruct first. And my next step, if everything goes as I am planning will be a GT series 911 maybe even an RS..... and I know my NY plate, if it is available........ anywho, there is plenty left in this car for me to enjoy and learn....
@ Macster: mate you are spot on. I was told don't bother with the low temp thermo. Not really needed for my driving. As for the AOS, I have a smoking issues (yes I like cigars), and the pix from the shop shows oil/air dirt on the motor as the AOS is clearly failing, The Porsche Motorsport one is the recommended solution for my usage. The coils are toast, cracked, pretty bad.... never been done, and it needs plugs, too. Water pump is preventative maintenance, plain and simple.
@Sneaky Pete: Hey bud, been a while. Yes, car goodies, it is what it is all about, very exciting..... and this whole process started with a bad cat, so while you are at it.......ka ching$$. The oil filler tube is showing stress signs, might do that now, save some labor $$. The oil cooler is dry as a bone, no need to replace seals, might cause stress/pressure elsewhere.
@IMO000 Engine is being pulled, as there are a number of items that need to be addressed, I want to look at the clutch, too. May not be mandatory, but saves on labor, so I am told, since it is out.
@terbundiamactivated: yes the road up here are excellent, but I only light it up at the track.
@philooo: Tranny/gear oil and regular (Motul 5W40 full synthetic) oil change are part of the service they are doing. As for the 2nd to 3rd shift issue, maybe cup car cables.......but not until next year, might also look into tranny mount change...........
hope I didn't miss anyone, wish I could do the quote/reply thingy I have seen.

Carey:
I appreciate the FL invite. I invite you up this way for the Glen, a stopover on the way to Mont Tremblant......trouble is, I am not near anything....but you are welcome to experience NY, Country 911 hospitality. I am probably going to include the oil filler tube.........
Looking forward to the x-pipe cats and Fister D combo. I am hoping next week.
