Default Oem 5mm spacers or aftermarket 7mm?

Looking to get wheels more flush with the fender
Worried that after market 7mm spacers have no hub centric flange with a few peeps reporting vibration...worried oem 5mm won't make appreciable diff... Anyone with first hand experience and pics care to comment

I can't speak from personal experience with a Porsche, but I have used spacers with several applications on Audis. I would never run a non-hubcentric spacer on a car designed to be hubcentric.

If you go aftermarket, I have had the best experience with H&R spacers.

As for fitment, the more aggressive you go the more chance of rubbing. I like as wide a stance as possible for the best look. However, it often means a bit of trial and error with different thickness spacers.

Good Luck!

I needed a 5mm spacer for my fronts with aftermarket wheels and snows. It mounted directly to the hub via set screws. I don't notice any appreciable difference in the look.

5mm is hardly noticeable but fits well in the front. I'm running stock springs but -0.7 degrees front camber and -2 degrees rear and the fronts will rub the wheel well with too big of a tire (265) but fit fine with 255 or slimmer. The rear wouldn't be "flush" enough cosmetically speaking; I don't run spacers back there and even a 315 width tire wasn't close to touching the fender. Only issue I had with the H&R 5mm spacers was using the extended lugs my kit came with; they were garbage and I had to buy the GT3 extended lugs, which work great.

RUF makes a 7mm hub centric spacer which I have on my car after replacing H&R's that I was experiencing some vibration with. I second knfeparty's recommendation, be sure to get quality lug bolts.

Porsche OEM 5mm kit includes extended lugs...

Anyway guys what do you think about the diff between 7mm and 5mm ? I found RUF 7mm hubcentric with extended bolts for $400. Porsche OEM 5mm with extended bolts and security locks for $329. If visually there's no diff maybe I'll stick with OEM...

I bought FVD and was very happy with their quality. 7mm and 15mm spacers if I remember correctly.

Another question to those who bought 7mm aftermarket and 5mm Porsche spacers.
Do the 5mm Porsche have wheel centric flanges or is completely flat.
Does the actual hub have enough of a flange that protrudes out that you don't need the wheel centric flange on 7mm or thinner spacers? I keep reading of people even with 7mm spacers having vibration problems with the completely flat disc...

Does 2mm make that HUGE of a difference?
Are these stock wheels, or aftermarket?
Are you trying to camber the wheels?
Are they going to hit the fenders?

Why not just mock it up using a stack of washers between the wheel & hub? Try a 5mm stack and a 7mm stack under 3 or more lug bolts and see how you like the offsets.

The hub flange doesn't protrude out of the 7mm spacer. I paid $158 for two Ruf 7mm spacers and $70 for ten lug bolts so $400 sounds a tad high. pm me if you want more info.

Thx !
The $400 was for 4 spacers and 40 bolts...
I just saw an eBay ad http://m.ebay.com/itm/271285410070?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
These may do the trick !

You might check out OTIS Inc. for wheel spacers and bolt kits. CNC machined in the USA, Alcoa 6061-t6 billet aluminum, hub-centric, wheel-centric (only spacers over 7mm), and top quality wheel bolts...

They sell them in different spacer width, pairs of two, sets of four, etc. but for example, a set four spacers and twenty bolts is is $260. A few dollars more in black instead of natural aluminum.

If you are using OEM wheels, OEM size tires, on a narrow body 996, I think 7mm in the front and 14mm or 15mm in the rear is about right (link to four spacer kit)

The FVD 7mm spacers are hubcentric which is why I bought them. Also 5mm spacers is the most amount of thread you would want to lose in locking your wheel in. It seems Porsche even added 5mm length in bolts to compensate for the 5mm spacers. You can get away with buying Porsche lug nuts to save money if it is cheaper and just lose 2mm thread.
