Default Buttonwillow Track Day Results

We had a great day at the track on Monday. Thanks to Leon and Peter for showing up and having a great time.

It was awesome to have the Porsche on the track. This was my third track day but the first with the 996. I started out pretty slow and approached the limits of the car and myself by the end of the day. I don't have (but wish I did have) PSM or traction control but it didn't have a tendency to oversteer or understeer at the speeds this track allowed. When the car did slide, it was predictable and pretty even. My car is lowered so I have more negative camber. The tire wear looked pretty even compared to my E36 M3 that had less neg camber.

Feel the need for a louder exhaust. Its too hard to hear the engine with the windows open and a helmet on. I was liking Leon's new Fabspeed setup.

I started with tire pressures 4 psi below the factory specs. I lowered them again another 2 psi and it finally felt more predictable to me. The air temp was about 100F so I'm sure the track temp was up there. My water temp was climbing pretty high after 20 minutes. Maybe its time for the third radiator?

Blue masking tape in strategic locations also worked great. Thanks for the tips guys.

Here's a link to some crappy pics:

Thanks Jake for putting everything together, It was fantastic to be able to run the track without having to worry about too many drivers.

Let's do this again sometimes,

By the way Leon, hope you found your camera bag

Peter
