Default Prescott Rally 2013.

I went to the Prescott Rally 2013 today. I worked as the timing control person.

I considered driving the 996 to the event and through the stages, but I pu$$ied out due to already "scoring" a new windshield from my previous off road run with 996. So I took the Acura instead.

However, there was a 912 Porsche racing in the event. Unfortunately, he did not present a great case for Porsches as reliable rally cars. I was told he is on the fourth engine in five events. Not very good. He has a 2.7L motor in, and apparently they are not very reliable. So go figure.

I could not get the pictures/videos of passing cars today, as I was 100% tied up doing the timing controls. Tomorrow, I am on the road block so should have great videos and pictures.

Videos will be posted tomorrow.

Speaking of off roading 911s. I know when we bought the car (99 order, 01 build) there was a lift kit you could get for the C4 as well as steel guards for the under carriage. The few times since when we've semi-seriously talked about doing it I've never been able to find the details again.

Does anyone have any info on prepping a NB C4 for off road use?

Tired today, again was too busy to snap pictures or film. BUT, the Guidance Aviation was filming the race and once they post their footage along with Go-Pro videos from the teams, I will post it here.

Per Senior citizen's request

Here is the stages teaser view from the Guidance Aviation. Their helicopter was following many cars, so there is a chance they caught the 912 as it was covering the stages. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks for posting, didn't even know this was going on! I went to the Prescott rally a couple of times several years when I lived in Prescott, (live in Phoenix now but am working in Prescott Valley). They used to have a stage right in the old rodeo grounds in town. I wish it was more popular and got a little more local press. There was an air show yesterday so that surely got more attention.

Sweet! Thanks for posting, they did a nice job. I went to the same high school (back in SoCal) as the guy who owns Guidance - he used to own a 996 as well!
