Thanks for the advice....but....as a pilot - trust me....any sound or change in normal temps or pressures, I am on the side of the road waiting for the flatbed. I cannot afford a rebuild....never mind a replacement engine.

They are not from the IMS bearing - the bearing seals are black, not brown.

I saw an occasional bit of this my Boxster's oil @ 20K miles, have seen one or two bits in my 996 as well. This is not a reason to panic.

There's no way a water pump impeller bit could make it to oil is there? Color looks somewhat like some chipped WP impeller pics I've seen lurking about...

If it does you have bigger problems than a few bits of plastic in your oil.

Heh. The only ways I can think of involve bonus holes in the engine block. The symptoms of such a problem would reveal themselves before the next scheduled oil change.
