996 Owners age group and PSM question
I am almost 72 in a month and bought it last month, a 2000 Coupe, to track, 64k miles, no apparent IMS/RMS fix or issue. One track day already and see it has light valve cover/cam cover leak naturally on the headers.
Retiring my 89 930 from track duty since Hagerty says it is valuable. Also have a 996 GT2 in the Stable to chase ZR1's and a Healey to Chase MGC's. The 996 GT2 and the 930 don't leak, but the Healey likes to mark its spot everywhere it covers, which is normal for a Brit car.
By the way, the car has PSM and it screwed up late braking. Various opinions to leave on or off on the track. Never had it before and I am leaning to leaving it off. Any thoughts out there?

33 now, so going down this path. Not sure I want to go back to driving any other car.
Not sure I'd want a track car, but there is another 911 in the future once this one is paid off and we build a bigger garage.

I bought mine @ 33 years old. I anticipate I will at some point dedicate this one as a track car and buy a 997 when they drop to low 20's. I anticipate I will be in my 40's by then.

40 for the 996; the bottom of the list started at 20. Very good ride thus far
Only regret is not keeping them all, trying to avoid selling them now adays. I junped from car to car in the past out of boredom.

I was 18 and in high school when my dad brought home a 911 SC Weissach. He was an executive at VW at the time and he got these loaner cars every now and again.
My brother and I took that car out for a test drive on our favorite local twisty road and we were both blown away. I don't know that we ever really got it out of third gear but it seemed to like diving into corners and was very happy at 90 miles an hour. Well above the local posted speed limit.
Needless to say from then on I was hooked. And I was certain that the car of my dreams was the 911 and one day I would own one.
That day came true in 1999 when I bought my '88 911 coupe.
She now shares the garage with her new sibling a 2003 996 with the X51 package.
At 55 I'm a happy chappie. And my wife thinks it's great. Life's good. :cheers

After being a BMW guy for years, took the plunge on an 02 996 TT that I purchased from a forum member last fall. At 48 it was the best decision I made and am completely in love with the car!

What does it matter? There are octogenarians who still have all of their faculties and twenty year olds who don't and never will have.
Drive and enjoy, if you need a common denominator, join a club; if you don't, drive the sh*t out of it!
