But wouldn't the baby seat have to go in the rear seats, not the front by the airbags? Unless I am reading your post wrong and that the airbags would be turned back on again after the baby seat installation.

NOT IN A 996. (keytohwy please do proper fact checking before replying - your answer replies only to a 997 / 987)

Durametric cannot alter the coding of airbag present/not present in a 996. Please go to durametric.com to fact check.

A legitimate question but...rule number one is not to put the baby seat in the front seat of any car, period. There are a couple of threads on here about baby seats and what fits/works in the back seat. Several posters have been through all types of baby seats that work. I would start there before trying to figure out how to disable the air bag. I used to put mine strapped down in the back of my MG! Yeah, it was a semi-permanent solution for a few years, but whatever. If I could figure out how to do that, one should be able to figure out how to put it in the back jumper seat in a 996. Much much safer that way.

Although I prefer to put kids in the back in most situations/cars, I don't think Porsche would've included air-bag deactivation devices on their baby seats if they thought it posed any danger. In fact, my OEM Porsche Sports seats come with a warning label on the back of the seats about putting people back there. I'll have to check again on the exact verbiage when I get home from work. Also IIRC, there was some crash data that was presented where the back will give way before the front passengers in some accident situations.

No. It doesn't matter what version. That planet9 link you keep referencing is for 987/997

I've used the Durametric to turn off the airbag light but I don't think you can use it to turn off the airbag in a 996.
